About this item
Pro-Lab’s Spot Indole Reagent is to be used in the qualitative method to determine the ability of an organism to split indole from the tryptophan molecule.
- Pro-Lab Mucolyse PL.701 enhances the isolation of organisms responsible for chronic lung disease
- PYR test for the determination of Pyrrolidonyl peptidase (PYRase) activity
- PYR cards contain a substrate used for detection of PYRase activity
- Rabbit Coagulase Plasma for the qualitative detection of the coagulase enzyme produced by Staphylococcus aureus
The amino acid tryptophan can be oxidized by certain bacteria using intracellular enzymes collectively called ‘tryptophanase’, resulting in the production of indole
Pro-Lab Mucolyse PL.701 is a sputum liquefying agent used to digest and thin out the sputum, thus enhancing the isolation of organisms responsible for chronic lung disease.
The Prospot™ PYR test is a rapid colourimetric test for the determination of Pyrrolidonyl peptidase (PYRase) activity.
Prospot™ PYR test cards contain a substrate used for detection of PYRase activity. When the colour developer is added, the enzymatic hydrolysis of the substrate by enterococci or Group A streptococci produces a red colour.
The indole is detected by the p-dimethylaminocinnamaldehyde, which involves a chemical combination producing a distinct blue colour. The presence or absence of indole formation is used for bacterial identification.
