Cloning Buffers

Cloning Buffers

In molecular biology, cloning buffer solutions containing TRIS, acetic acid, EDTA, or more are used in agarose electrophoresis, typically for the separation of nucleic acids such as DNA and RNA. Various buffer formulations are available with different base ingredients in the mixture. These different mixtures have varied buffer capacities and run times. Buffer solutions serve to protect samples against pH changes while the sample is undergoing a wide variety of chemical applications.

EDTA (0.5 M), pH 8.0, Quality Biological

EDTA (0.5 M), pH 8.0, Quality Biological

Supplier: QUALITY BIOLOGICAL, INC.

EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), a metal chelator, is widely used in molecular biology as a chemical reagent to reduce nuclease activity (i.e. metalloenzyme). EDTA solution can be used to study cell biology, molecular biology, bioactive small molecules, biochemicals, solutions and reagents, inorganic salts, and chelators.

TE (Tris EDTA) Buffers, Quality Biological

TE (Tris EDTA) Buffers, Quality Biological

Supplier: QUALITY BIOLOGICAL, INC.

TE is composed of buffering agent Tris, and chelating agent EDTA. EDTA prevents degradation of DNA and RNA by chelating magnesium (or other divalent metal ions). Together, this Tris-EDTA based solution solubilizes DNA or RNA, while protecting it from degradation.

Low-EDTA TE (1X), pH 8.0, Quality Biological

Supplier: QUALITY BIOLOGICAL, INC.

Low-EDTA 1X, pH 8.0 is molecular biology grade TE buffer used to store DNA and RNA. EDTA chelates Mg2+ and other divalent metals ions - (inhibits DNAse and RNAse to suppress DNA and RNA degradation).
