Metallurgical Testing | Avantor

Metallurgical testing in Mining operations

Mining metallurgical testing involves analyzing the mineral content and quality of metals extracted from mines. The process involves a range of laboratory techniques to determine the ore's chemical composition and physical properties, such as specific gravity, particle size, and mineralogy. Metallurgical testing assists mining companies in assessing the economic viability of ore deposits, optimizing mineral processing methods, identifying potential environmental impacts, and ensuring consistent product quality.

Avantor has a comprehensive offering for Metallurgical testing. We supply vacuum batch filters, pressure filters, ball mills, roll mills, grinding jars and a complete selection of sieves and the sieve shakers. In addition to Bond Rod Mill Test Machine and Flotation Test Machines.

Filter Presses

Batch Pressure Filters are for batch filtering of slurries under pressure, and they offer a quick, convenient method of dewatering slurries.

Filter Press Cloth is used with the filter press to collect the solid matter in the sample during filtering.

Mills

Using rounded metal rods with powerful mechanical force, rod mills work to break down solids to be uniformly sized

A ball mill uses small metal balls to grind or blend materials such as mineral ore.

Jar mills are suited for wet or dry applications and are used for mixing, blending or grinding materials like ore.

Sieves

Sift through sampled materials at various stages and aperture sizes with the large selection of sieves.

Sieve shakers are used for fast, but precise separations of fine and coarse dry particles.

Sifting applications can require the addition of accessories such as a collection pan or lid to contain material.

Equipment & Supplies

Mortars and pestles are made of a variety of materials and have been used since ancient times grind and blend solid materials.

Stirrers are used ubiquitously in laboratories for simple mixing procedures with solutions of varying viscosities and heating needs.

Heave-duty cylindrical tanks with covers are made of polypropylene/polyethylene and are available in a range of sizes to accommodate varying volumes.

The devices can be used in various applications such as air or gas sampling, pressure vacuum filtration, precious metal recovery, and process control.
