The RNase-free DNase set provides a rapid and efficient on-column digestion of DNA during RNA purification from a wide variety of sample sources using E.Z.N.A.® RNA kits. The DNases can be efficiently removed in subsequent steps. Generally, DNase digestion is not required for RNA purified with E.Z.N.A.® RNA kits since the silica-membrance, spin-column technology efficiently removes the majority of the DNA without DNase treatment. However, complete DNA removal may be necessary for certain RNA applications that are sensitive to very small amounts of DNA.

RNA-Solv® Reagent is a one reagent system for the isolation of total RNA from cells and tissues. The reagent, a single-phase solution consisting of phenol and guanidine isothiocyanate, is a modification of the single-step RNA isolation method developed by Chomczynski and Sacchi. The sample is homogenised and lysed in RNA-Solv® Reagent, which maintains the integrity of the RNA while disrupting and denaturing endogenous RNases and other cellular components. Extraction of the lysate with chloroform further denatures proteins and separates the mixture into an organic and an aqueous phase. RNA remains exclusively in the aqueous phase, and is subsequently recovered by isopropanol.

The E.Z.N.A.® Blood RNA Kit is designed for the isolation of total intracellular RNA from up to 1 ml of fresh, or frozen whole blood treated with any common anticoagulant such as heparin, EDTA or acid-citrate-dextrose. The procedure completely removes contaminants and enzyme inhibitors making total RNA isolation fast, convenient and reliable. Red blood cells are selectively lysed and white cells are collected by centrifugation.
