Peripherin is a class-III neuronal intermediate filament protein found in certain classes of neuron, most of which are located in the peripheral nervous system. Peripherin is a ~57kDa intermediate filament subunit found initially in sensory neurons of the peripheral nervous systems, which gives the protein its name. The HGNC name for this protein is PRPH. Subsequently, peripherin was found in some sensory and other neurons of the central nervous system and also in rat pheochromacytoma PC12 cells. Peripherin is also expressed in certain neuroendocrine tumors and in the insulin producing cells of the pancreas. Peripherin belongs to the Class III family of intermediate filament subunits which also includes vimentin, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and desmin.

This antibody is a nuclear phosphoprotein which forms a tight but non-covalently linked complex with the JUN/AP-1 transcription factor. In the heterodimer, FOS and JUN/AP-1 basic regions each seems to interact with symmetrical DNA half sites. On TGF-beta activation, forms a multimeric SMAD3/SMAD4/JUN/FOS complex at the AP1/SMAD-binding site to regulate TGF-beta-mediated signaling.

Presenilin-1 (PSEN1) is a multi-pass membrane protein and component of the gamma-secretase complex. PSEN1 is thought to play a role in intracellular signaling and gene expression or in linking chromatin to the nuclear membrane. It may also play a role in hematopoiesis. Neurofilaments contain three intermediate filament proteins: light (68 kDa), medium (160 kDa) and heavy (200 kDa). Neurofilament heavy (NF200 or NF-H) is phosphorylated and it is thought that this results in the formation of interfilament cross bridges that are important in the maintenance of axonal caliber. This antibody binds primarily to the phosphorylated axonal forms of NF-H.

The green fluorescent protein (GFP) is a 27 kDa protein isolated originally from the jellyfish Aequoria victoria. It has an endogenous fluorochrome activity with excitation maximum at 395nm and emission maximum at 509 nm, which is similar to that of fluorescein. GFP can be expressed in fluorescent form in essentially any prokaryotic or eukaryotic cell.
This GFP rabbit antibody was made against a recombinant GFP construct originating from an Aequoria species which was engineered to improve spectral properties and prevent oligomerization (1). This form of GFP, referred to as AcGFP, is 94% identical to the eGFP developed by Tsien and co-workers. The antibody can be used to verify the expression, size and stability of both AcGFP and eGFP fusion proteins in western blotting experiments and to amplify GFP signals in tissues of transgenic animals.

TrkA is a member of the neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor family. It is a membrane-bound receptor that upon neurotrophin binding, phosphorylates itself and members of the MAPK pathway. TrkA is required for high-affinity binding to nerve growth factor (NGF), neurotrophin-3 and neurotrophin-4/5 but not brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). TrkA leads to cell differentiations and may play a role in specifying sensory neuron subtypes. It has a crucial role in the development and function of the nociceptive reception system as well as establishment of thermal regulation via sweating. SUBUNIT: Exists in a dynamic equilibrium between monomeric (low affinity) and dimeric (high affinity) structures. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane; single-pass type I membrane protein.
