Regelmatig gebruik van geleidbaarheidsstandaarden in fabrieken en laboratoria garandeert dat instrumenten te allen tijde correct zijn gekalibreerd voor nauwkeurige metingen. Door sondes in de oplossing met bekende geleidbaarheid te plaatsen, kunnen de instellingen van de apparatuur vóór de test worden aangepast. Het onderhoud van de apparatuur maakt schattingen van onzuiverheden en ionenniveaus in monsters mogelijk.
