Met een kogelklep regelen kraantjes de doorstroming van vloeistoffen en lagedrukgassen in distributiesystemen. De pluggen, die in de overeenkomstige vrouwelijke aansluitstukken passen, zijn verkrijgbaar met diverse boorgatconfiguraties. Vaak voorzien van taps toelopende uiteinden, kunnen ze een breder bereik aan buisdiameters accommoderen voor meer flexibiliteit. De hoogwaardige, lekvrije kraantjes zijn geschikt voor vacuümtoepassingen en worden geleverd in geslepen glas of kunststof om smering overbodig te maken.
