Hydrometers
Hydrometers meten de soortelijke massa van vloeistoffen of bodemdeeltjes die te fijn zijn voor zeefanalyse. Het vrij drijvende apparaat heeft een cilindrische steel met een ballastbol aan de onderkant. Gewogen met metaal in plaats van lood of kwik lezen gebruikers eenvoudig de gegradueerde schaal af bij de meniscus. Optisch helder voor nauwkeurige conclusies kunnen hydrometers zijn gekalibreerd voor specifieke tests. Bereikonderverdelingen en nauwkeurigheidsniveaus verschillen tussen de instrumenten voor relatieve dichtheidsanalyse.
