Weefselverwerkers gebruiken methoden waarbij oplossingen in biologische monsters diffunderen om een correcte inbedding mogelijk te maken. Door de gebruikte reagentia continu te controleren, zullen de parallelle werkstations de monsters onderdompelen of de vloeistoffen laten circuleren door de kamer te pompen. Traditionele carrousels en multiprogrammakamers ventileren de geproduceerde dampen om optimale omstandigheden te behouden tijdens dehydratie, klaring of infiltratie. Geautomatiseerde weefselverwerkers produceren grote monstervolumes in een fractie van de tijd die handmatige procedures vereisen.
