Glasdesiccatoren bieden de beste zichtbaarheid zonder blootstelling bij het drogen, conserveren of opslaan van gevoelige monsters. Circulaire ontwerpen zijn het meest gebruikelijk, maar Abderhalden lineaire droogapparaten zijn ook beschikbaar. De uniforme, dikwandige constructie zorgt voor een strakke afdichting, terwijl de algemene vorm het gemakkelijk maakt om de inhoud te verwijderen. Door een vacuüm op de kraan aan te sluiten, kan het droogproces worden versneld. De herbruikbare glasdesiccatoren zijn verkrijgbaar in verschillende volumes om aan elke toepassing te voldoen. Speciaal ontworpen behuizingen vereisen geen flenssmering voor onderhoud.
