Milieux chromogènes permettant identification rapide des enzymes bactériennes caractéristiques. Fluorocult® Merck: gamme de milieux de culture solides et liquides permettant la détection par fluorescence de l'E.coli. Les milieux de culture Fluorocult® possèdent les mêmes composants que les milieux standard avec en plus le substrat MUG. Certains milieux contiennent également du tryptophane, substrat permettant une éventuelle réaction indole afin de favoriser la confirmation de la présence d'E.coli. La méthode Fluorocult® peut donner un résultat positif en seulement 24 à 48 heures. Avec les milieux chromogènes, il est possible de réaliser une identification directe, par une coloration caractéristique de la colonie sur le milieu de culture lui-même, sans l'application d'additifs. Il est également possible de différencier les colonies simples positives, même en présence de teneurs microbiennes élevées.
