Les produits de montage anhydre, telles que Neo-Mount®, doivent être utilisés pour le montage permanent et le stockage à long terme d'échantillons. Les lames traitées dans les laboratoires d'anatomo-pathologie devant être stockées jusqu'à 10 ans, les résultats de coloration doivent être stables et une décoloration n'est pas acceptable. Le milieu de montage anhydre Neo-Mount® est un milieu de montage pour microscopie à la coloration extrêmement stable, fabriqué avec des solvants à base de mélanges d'hydrocarbures aliphatiques. Il contient un substitut non aromatique du xylène, par conséquent, Neo-Mount® doit être combiné exclusivement avec Neo-Clear®. Le Xylène doit être évité dans l'étape de montage, car il entraîne une opacification des lames et laisse des traces. En outre, en plaçant les lames déshydratée sur papier filtre pendant environ 1 minute avant montage, tout excès de Neo-Clear® peut être évité, étant donné que des bulles d'air peuvent apparaître sous la lamelle couvre-objet. La même condition préalable doit également être respectée lors du montage des échantillons à l'aide d'une machine de montage automatique ; dans ce cadre, le NEO-CLEAR® peut être éliminé de la façon la plus efficace par incubation des lames pendant une minute dans un portoir à lames vide.

Sa viscosité est comprise entre 250 et 600 mPas, le 1,00869 a une petite plage de viscosité. CC/mount is an aqueous based permanent mounting medium with a very high refractive index, which when applied to the stained tissue sections can store the tissue specimens permanently without the fading of the chromogens. Because of the superior refractive index of CC/mount, tissues mounted in this medium look like specimens mounted with organic based mounting media. No coverslipping is required with CC/mount. However, if coverslipping is required, dried CC/mount can be post mounted by using an organic based mounting medium. CC/mount permits the long-term storage of antigens localised using organic insoluble chromogen substrates, including AEC, DAB, Fast Red, BCIP/NBT, BCIP/INT and fluorescent dyes like FITC and phycobiliproteins. The high pH of CC/mount ensures increased stability of fluorescence intensity.

The Epoxy Embedding Medium Kit is a very widely used embedding medium for electron microscopy. The embedding formulation originally published by Luft (1961) is excellent for both plant and animal tissues. Due to the low viscosity of the resin, it penetrates the tissue specimen faster than Araldite and other polymers. It hardens easily and uniformly at low temperatures with the addition of dodecenylsuccinic anhydride (DDSA), methyl nadic anhydride (MNA), and the accelerator 2,4,6-tris(dimethylaminomethyl)phenol (DMP-30). Slight shrinkage may occur during curing. This kit is useful for embedding a variety of tissues as a wide range of hardness can be obtained with this resin to suit a specific tissue type by using two different anhydride curing agents (DDSA and MNA).

DPX new is a synthetic non aqueous mounting medium for microscopy. In its formulation, the teratogenic plasticiizer dibutyl phthalate (DBP) has been avoided, which renders the composition safer for the environment and more user friendly than the conventionally used mounting agents such as DPX.

Differentiation solution comprises acidified ethanol or isopropanol that is used to decolourise hematoxylin stain. The duration of exposure to the solution determines the degree of decolourisation. Differentiation is a crucial step in hematoxylin-eosin staining to achieve the proper colour contrast necessary for visualisation, by selectively removing excess hematoxylin from the tissue section and leaving behind the desired staining intensity.
